Tomorrow night the young adult men of the Rendezvous are embarking upon new territory. While the past year and a half has been incredible we have had a hard time organizing and following through with our small groups. Tomorrow nights mission is to grab a large portion of our men and actually do small groups at the church. We've asked all our young adult men to meet at the church at 5 pm. We're going to do a short teaching and then break into small groups where we can discuss and go deeper in the Word.
Small groups are all about one word "discipleship." It really was the heart of Jesus. Before Christ ascended into heaven he didn't say go and plant really cool, relevant, edgy churches. He didn't tell us to write catchy worship songs, and have creative services. While I personally love all of these things, that wasn't the last thing Jesus said. Hence it probably isn't the most important thing to him. Jesus told us to do go and make disciples.
Honestly, this has been a real challenge for us at the Rendezvous. We've done a great job at getting people to come to the service, but we haven't done particularly well with creating disciples. The reason why is because disciples are true followers. They are people that not only believe the prinicples or the teachings, but actually assist in spreading the doctrine. As a pastor my number one passion is to see people get saved and become disciples of Christ. I believe that tomorrow night is going to be the beginning of something absolutely amazing. As we begin to pour into men that are hungry for God, we will soon see a radical transformation that is only possible from the grace of God.
I'm so proud of all the young adult men at the Rendezvous who have accepted this challenge. All we need is a few good men to really make a difference.
